Hoya Care Instructions
Most hoya are easy to care for they require little water and attention they are tropical plants and prefer humid environments though. Here are some basic instructions on their care.
1. Watering Instructions
Hoyas prefer to dry out somewhat between waterings. Water thoroughly until water begins to drain from the bottom of the pot, then allow the excess water to drain completely.
Amount of water: Water enough to fully moisten the soil without leaving the plant sitting in water. The amount will depend on the size of the pot and plant. pot type: Clay pots are a great choice for Hoyas because they are porous and allow the soil to dry more quickly.
2. Soil Type
Hoyas prefer a loose, well draining soil mix that allows air to reach their roots. Recommended: Coco coir or a well draining houseplant soil mix can be used. Avoid heavy soil that holds too much moisture.
3. Fertilizer
A balanced fertilizer during active growthing season a tropical house plant fertilizer or fish fertilizer is recommend I like to use a fish fertilizer, it is stinky though.

How to flower Hoyas
Hoyas benefit from regular feeding during their active growing season. Recommended: Fish fertilizer or a balanced houseplant fertilizer such as Houseplant Food can be used. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer label and avoid over fertilizing. Give them plenty of bright, indirect light. Hoyas need good light to produce flowers. A bright window with filtered sunlight is ideal. Some Hoyas can tolerate gentle morning or evening direct sunlight. Let the soil dry slightly between waterings
Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet. Water thoroughly when the top portion of the soil has dried, then allow excess water to drain away. Use a well draining soil mix. hoya prefer airy soil that allows their roots to breathe. A mixture containing coco coir, orchid bark, and perlite can work well.
Fertilize during active growth. Feed your Hoya with a diluted, balanced houseplant fertilizer during the growing season. Avoid over fertilizing, since too much fertilizer can encourage leaves instead of flowers. Give the plant time to mature. Young Hoyas may take several years before they are mature enough to flower. A healthy plant that isn’t flowering isn’t necessarily doing anything wrong. Don’t remove the flower spurs (peduncles). After a Hoya finishes blooming, leave the little flower stalk attached. Hoyas can produce new flowers from the same peduncle.
Give it a stable environment. Warm temperatures, adequate humidity, and avoiding sudden changes in light or watering can help encourage flowering. Tip: Once Hoya develops flower buds, avoid moving it or making major changes to its care. Sudden changes can sometimes cause the buds to drop.
